No but a transfer has to change resadence in order to keep from sitting out a year.

BINGO! A kid coming from 8th to 9th grade can go anywhere and not have to move. Once the kid is enrolled at a high school the family has to sell their current residence and actually move to the new school district they will attend. In the case of two players at TS this never happened.

Check it out Burrhead and then you'll know too. It's in the VHSL rule book.

No you do not have to sell the resadence and after you move into it(and start school) you can move back to your oragional location. Is it dirty pool? you bet but it is next to impossable to prove/do anything about it

Same thing back in the mid 1990's happen at Gate City with the two boys from Daniel Boone High School. Also, about three or four years ago with one from DB who lived with his uncle in GC and after football season went bat to DB.

    Per VHSL handbook page 64

    (7) Residence is defined as the domicile of an individual, meaning that the individual
lives in a locality with the intent to make it a fixed and permanent home. Domicile requires
more than bodily presence as an inhabitant in a given place; it requires bodily presence
and an intention to make such a place a fixed and permanent home. Other indicia of
domicile include automobile registration, voter registration and the reporting of a mailing
address change to the appropriate agencies, such as the post office, utility companies,
creditors and employers. Under no circumstances can a family or student participant have
two residences for eligibility purposes. It is the obligation of the school to know the
complete residence status of each student participant and to see that all comply with these
requirements. Any change in residence must be bona fide. Determination of what
constitutes a bona fide change of residence depends upon the facts of each case, but in
order for a change of residence to be considered bona fide at least the following facts must
exist: (1) The original residence must be abandoned as a residence; that is sold, rented
or disposed of as a residence, and must not be used as a residence by any member of
the family, (2) The entire family must make the change and take with them the household
goods and furniture appropriate to the circumstances, and (3) The change must be made
with the intent that it is permanent.

Everyone may know the real reason but how do you prove it since you could keep both residences for other porposes?

I am not saying it is right but I am saying it is next to impossable to enforce

I was under the impression that his parents split and his mother moved to Knoxville and he did't want to attend school in Knoxville.
